PNG RECORDS 162 NEW COVID-19 CASES ON THURSDAY APRIL 8 - TOTAL CASES AT 8,001

Papua New Guinea recorded 162 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Thursday April 8, increasing the total number of cases to 8,001.

The country’s COVID-19 related death toll remains at 68.

Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 is 132,946,206 including 517,585 new cases reported in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Thursday April 8. The global death toll is 2,867,242 of which 9,264 were reported in the last 24 hours.

Jiwaka Province New cases: 4. Sex: 4 males. Age range: 40-60 years. Symptomatic: 4. Asymptomatic: - Nil. Deaths: 1. Total cases: 48.

Eastern Highlands Province New cases: 1. Sex: 1 female. Age range: 27 year old. Symptomatic: - 1. Asymptomatic: Nil. Deaths: Nil. Total cases: 317.
