The temptation to gamble gets stronger as Noah’s (Eldan Toti) friend, Joe, keeps bombarding him with texts about easy money. Ben’s possessiveness gets worse after seeing Miri (Hane Kokoha) conversing with Kori (Rubu Jimmy).
Although Noah should be the focus of this episode – according to the title – he only gets approximately 15 seconds of screen time in the beginning before other characters take over. Developing Noah’s downward spiral into gambling would have provided a more coherent narrative direction and justified the episode’s apparent focus on him. Instead, the story shifts its attention elsewhere, allowing supporting characters to receive more screen time and development than the supposed protagonist. Ultimately, this imbalance undermines the episode’s narrative focus, leaving Noah’s storyline largely neglected.
The episode also appears to suffer from a continuity issue, particularly in its handling of time and character movement. During the scenes of Miri visiting Lani’s market stall, she arrives when the sun is still high, suggesting late morning or around midday. In the previous episode, we learn that Miri finishes work at 5 p.m. After receiving a call from Ben, she heads home to see him, but the episode offers no indication of whether she stops at work or visits any other location along the way. By the time she arrives home, the sun has set, suggesting that it is around 6 p.m. This lack of visual or narrative cues makes it difficult to establish how much time has passed. Similarly, it remains unclear whether Miri is heading from the market to her workplace first, thus using up time, further complicating the continuity of her movements.
On the other hand, Kori’s increased screen time offers a more productive character study, allowing audiences to observe his behavior and assess his relationships with the other characters. His greater presence provides room for characterization that Noah, despite being the apparent focus of the episode, is denied. While Kori’s expanded role may contribute to his own development, it further exposes the episode’s uneven distribution of narrative attention.
Final Verdict:
Episode four struggles to justify its title, sidelining Noah in favor of supporting characters while introducing continuity issues that disrupt narrative flow.
